Alas, Penny Purrfect has passed. She woke this morning being very slow and quiet. She normally lingers in my bed when I’m doing morning chores and then moves to the dining room where she’d be in the hammock, on top of the hutch, or sit on the round rug and talk to me while I’m cooking lunch. Other times she would be in the living room laying on the sofa or in the cat bed on the swivel chair especially if we were watching TV. Instead today, she ‘catloafed’ near my desk on the carpet next to the space heater in my studio being very quiet with only her tail swishing now and then. She seemed ‘off’ but then she does have arthritis and it has been cold.
While we were out of the house for errands, she tried to crawl under the buffet in my studio where she threw up. I found her there, cleaned her up and notice her lack of movement. She laid with her eyes open and tongue out – it was obvious at that time she was dying.
Cats will find a hiding space when they are ill or dying, apparently she was too weak to go to her normal spots and did the best she could.
I made her comfortable and warm and called Robert Shank as he was her person for 7 years. She perked for a few moments to his voice, but still slipped quietly away moments later.
Penny ‘Wesson’ Purrfect 10/11/2013 – 02/21/2025. May Bast welcome you with flying toys and snuggles. Rest well pretty girl. She is survived by her littermate, Rory Borealis along with her clowder mates Ginger DeVitas and Corey Ander.
