Part of it was deciding whether or not I wanted to take the responsibility of maintaining a web presence or just let Facebook deal with my inebriated/stoned ramblings. Well, since we are in the midst of a pandemic, I thought I would just throw my thought into the quagmire that everyone has been filtering... . . Yes, there is a pandemic... don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I've kept to my house with my youngest spawn for the last month. We've watched the death tolls rise in New Orleans and other cities not to take any venturing out without due process... . "Mom, I rather spend the monies for delivery as replacing you is irreplaceable... Often it is because no one can believe that a free spirited individual such as myself could have ever allowed myself into taking orders from others. However for those who know of my early years, they can understand why I needed to leave my home. I realized if I were to get anywhere and to have any type of marketable trade, I had to seek training somehow. After the fiasco of my freshman year of college, I knew that my parents were not about to send me off to school again and by the Maker, I wasn't going to wait on tables. So in August before my 19th birthday I signed under the delay entry program in the United States Air Force. That is to say, that I would go active duty the following December. When I first enlisted, I was going into Crypto Maintenance. While I was in Basic Training, little did I know they were doing a complete background check on me - which was understandable considering I was needing a Top Secret Clearance. In retrospect I understand what happened. One day I was summoned to the Squadron office where I was told a cousin of my boyfriend, who was stationed at another base, was to see me. At first I wondered if he was who he was, but he seemed to know his family. She woke this morning being very slow and quiet. She normally lingers in my bed when I'm doing morning chores and then moves to the dining room where she'd be in the hammock, on top of the hutch, or sit on the round rug and talk to me while I'm cooking lunch. Other times she would be in the living room laying on the sofa or in the cat bed on the swivel chair especially if we were watching TV. Instead today, she 'catloafed' near my desk on the carpet next to the space heater in my studio being very quiet with only her tail swishing now and then. She seemed 'off' but then she does have arthritis and it has been cold. While we were out of the house for errands, she tried to crawl under the buffet in my studio where she threw up. I found her there, cleaned her up and notice her lack of movement. She laid with her eyes open and tongue out - it was obvious at that time she was dying. Cats will find a hiding space when they are ill or dying, apparently she was too weak to go to her normal spots and did the best she could. I made her comfortable and warm and called Robert Shank as he was her person for 7 years. She perked for a few moments to his voice, but still slipped quietly away moments later. Not long afterwards in April, my sister Virginia discovered she had 4th stage ovarian cancer... she passed away on June 23, 2020. I miss her immeasurably, not to mention that one of my Muses passed as she was an inspiration. Sketching or doing anything creative became painful as it made me think of her, perhaps? Or was it an excuse? 2021 my cousin George passed on May 12th from a blood clot after surgery to clear up an infection in his foot. I have many wonderful memories of George as he was a year younger than I. The last time I saw him was his brother Bob's funeral... too many funerals these days; but to be expected as there are more days behind me than in front. On a bright note I joined Skinz N Bonez, an artist collective and drumming group. There are many photos and posts on my FB page - just look up zymurgea and you'll find me. Alas, on December 27, 2023 I lost another sister, Anna Lois. She had been in pain with intestinal/digestive issues for over a year. Inasmuch as her death was grief to me - it brought her relief. This past December, my brother Mike lost his girlfriend, but since he brought her to his own wife's funeral - I don't... --- - Published: 2020-04-18 - Modified: 2020-05-06 - URL: https://www.zymurgea.com/daily-life/ - Categories: Life At first I was feeling guilty that I stayed up late and wasn't getting up at my usual 9 a. m. Either I was hanging out with my son or I was just either watching the latest posts on YouTube, Facebook, and even Twitter... thinking to myself, "Oh gawds, please! someone to have an original thought and not be someone's pocket... I don't think such a thing exists. These days I look beyond NPR or AP as everyone has their twist on the news. All is open to interpretation. So... what are we to do? All we can do is look at various sources whether it be Fox, CNN, or any other new sources... view them and see what information is given and take it from there. Do your research! ! ! How does anyone combat the lethargy of waiting for something to happen. It seems that has been the status quo for the last decade - waiting for something to happen... And now it has. What are we to do? --- - Published: 2011-01-14 - Modified: 2019-01-30 - URL: https://www.zymurgea.com/hello-world/ - Categories: Life Thank you for stopping by. I'm slowly deciding whether I want this to be a blog or just a site to share my sketches, artwork, knitting, and costuming. It's an evolving site. Previously it was just my professional career in art and consumer packaging. However, after 10 years of being out of the professional market - it's sort of silly to continue to pimp my production work. Currently, I am living with chronic pain of trigeminal neuralgia, spinal stenosis, degenerating discs... I try to be as active as possible but I live in pain. I live conservatively on disability. Thus far, I have my artwork portfolio broken into three sections: Production Art, Freelance Design and Quick Sketches. Production Art images are a few of the brands I worked on while employed in Cincinnati, Ohio. Freelance Design encompasses some of my best designs over the years both in Ohio, Louisiana and Texas. Projects can be anything from electronic design to hand painting signs. Quick Sketches are loosely timed 15 minute sketches of whatever strikes me in a small sketchbook I use while traveling around or visiting friends. I plan to add sections for costuming and fabric crafts. I hope you enjoy my projects. As I live in New Orleans, I try to participate with some local Krewes and music groups. My eternal thanks go to my son, Stephen Jakubiec of Inexistence. org for his patience and understanding of instructing me on the intricacies and custom tweaks that are possible with templates.... --- ---
